Division Conference

SSgt Lantz and SrA May recently returned from the first ever Joint division conference, where divisions 3, 4, and 5 will soon merge into a single division as 2. Both had been chosen as winners of the Chapter 306 Airman and NCO of the year award and SrA May went on to win at the division level and will be traveling to Jacksonville, Florida in August to compete at the international level.

Please extend a congratulations to both nominees as they worked hard to compete at such a prestigious award. We are all looking forward to see what the International PAC has in store this year for AFSA.

Our next general membership meeting will be on THURSDAY with a time change to 1130 at the chapel annex. We voted on a time change so that it could better suit those on other shifts. If any member has an issue with the time or any other issue with the chapter, feel free to let someone on the executive council know as we strive daily to improve our chapter!

9 February 2012

This morning we held our general membership meeting. The legislative update is in the Legislative tab above.

We discussed old business to include the Enlisted Village/Heritage Hall fundraiser being run by MSgt Keri Whitehead.

Also, we have began holding a monthly membership drive at the BX/Commissary the first Tuesday of each month, looking for creative people to take on the task of building a creative tri-fold type advertisement.

On March 1, AFSA will be holding its first ever chili cookoff, it’s sure to be a hit. I’ve already gotten my ticket, so make sure you get yours before they sell out! It’s only $5 to eat, and if you think you make the best chili in the low country, it’s only $5 to enter, and if you place in our competition (which CMSgt Lugosantiago is one of the judges!), you’ll love your winnings! For more information contact SrA Wilhelms, or SSgt Scott.

Welcome to our new membership trustee, TSgt Eric Cicogna, we look forward to seeing what you have to offer! With that being said, look forward to upcoming elections in April, as many people have gotten orders. Some of the positions open include secretary, treasurer, and legislative trustee. If interested be sure to email one of the executive council members!

Family Circle Cup! Yes, its that time of the year! AFSA has taken on the dates of 5 April and 8 April, contact MSgt Anitra Towns for more information!

CONGRATS to our AFSA Chapter award winners SrA Felicia May and SSgt Kyle Lantz! Good luck at division level!

Look forward to our NASCAR fundraising even 25-28 May, if you’re a race fan, this is sure to be an amazing time. Serving the luxury boxes while watching a free race!

In attempt to reach out to our retiree community, our retiree trustee has taken on the VFW in Goose Creek and will be talking to them about our chapter!

Both Command Chiefs were in attendance at this months meeting and opened members eyes as to the importance of AFSA and different things they offer. If you’d like to know more about what AFSA offers and can do for you, be sure to visit the headquarters website full of useful information. And while you’re at it, if you’re not a member or need to renew, feel free to do so on that site! www.hqafsa.org

Our next meeting will be held 8 March at 0730 in the Chapel Annex, be sure to join us for breakfast!

2011 AFSA International PAC

Held in San Antonio, Texas; the 50th internation AFSA conference was a great experience a few lucky members of AFSA got to take part in. International elections were held and speakers included the eight former CMSgt’s of the Air Force as well as many MAJCOM commanders who gave insight on things concerning today’s Air Force. Also, as an added surprise, the conferece held two concerts from Darryl Worley, and Air Supply. The conference was an awesome oppurtunity to learn more about AFSA and get some ideas on how to improve the organization!
