Air Force Sergeants Association Donates to MVH

BANGOR –  Members of Maine’s Chapter of the Air Force Sergeants Association held a golf tournament on Sept. 18 at Rocky Knoll Country Club in Orrington to benefit Maine Veterans’ Homes.  Over $1,600 was raised to be used by MVH’s Activities Departments to support programs for veterans at the Homes.

“As veteran’s, we understand the vital role our Veteran’s Homes play in enhancing the quality of life of our brothers and sisters residing there.  From all of our golfers, veterans and non veterans, this is just one small way of saying thanks for your service and sacrifice,” said Steve Hughes, Chief Master Sgt. (Ret.) and Maine Chapter of the Air Force Sergeants Association President.  “This years event far exceeded our expectations, and I want to once again thank all of the participants who gave so generously of their time and money, and I know next year’s event will be even better.  You can find more information about our various community service initiatives at our website, www.afsachapters.com/chapter154.”

The Chapter presented the check for $1,605 at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor Tuesday during their monthly meeting.

“Maine Veterans’ Homes sincerely appreciates the Air Force Sergeants Association’s extremely generous donation,” said Pat Young, MVH Chief Operations Officer.  “We are honored to have organizations like the AFSA consider the veterans in our Homes and this contribution will go toward enriching our residents’ experience at MVH.”
