-Paid Mike $179 for the Christmas social, deposited rebate check.
Membership Report: 531 active members, 15 lapsed, 0 terminated, 43 bad addresses, 2 on the 4-month roster
Legislative Report:
-AFSA and its coalition presented written testimony to the House Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee. It concerned current military strength levels, the importance of voluntary drawdown tools, and the importance of keeping military retirements the way they are.
-H.R. 4142, the American Heroes COLA Act – would make VA’s cost-of-living adjustments automatic like Social Security and military retired pay.
Old Business:
-Chapter Coins are available for $5 and located in the Flight Superintendant Office, Bldg. 700. POC is Mike Cavalier.
-We still need teams to volunteer on Tuesdays, 7:30 to 11:30am; see Mike Cavalier for info on volunteer training course.
-Gregory J. Harris Military Courtesy Room at Syracuse’s Hancock Airport is in need of both monetary and non-monetary donations as well as volunteers; email afsachapter174@gmail.com for volunteer application.
-Three chapter shirts have been ordered (navy blue with chapter logo); if you would like to buy one, contact Mike Cavalier.
-Please see Phyllis to fill out a biographical data form.
New Business:
-Division 1 Convention will be held in Holyoke 27-29 April, will the last convention before we are restructured into the Northeast Region. POC is Phyllis Beck.
-We need ads to fund the Division 1 Convention booklet; ads can be emailed but the check must be mailed. See Phyllis.
-We have nominations for NCO, Member, Volunteer, and website of the year.
-Fundraisers at EADS are no longer allowed; will look into holding a burger burn at Rome Labs or DFAS.
-Decided to put up AFSA flyers at the Coliseum Gym and in the Huntress Club.
Open Discussion:
-Voted to spend $115 for a full-page ad, a memorial for Norm, and a patron ad for Charlie in the Division 1 booklet.
-Agreed to pay fees and possibly reimburse for gas, members who would like to attend the last Division 1 Convention. To be considered, must be a member and have attended at least 3 meetings in the last 12 months.
