AFSA POW/MIA

Your local AFSA Chapter 1179, is supporting the local VA on 12 Sept 2011 for a POW/MIA event. We are looking for 40 individuals who are willing to help escort veteran’s who served our country since WWII. These individuals were actual POW’s/MIA’s during their time of service.

Location: 1055 Clermont Street. Denver CO 80220 (basically 9th Street, one block off Colorado Boulevard) It will be in the VA Medical Center auditorium, which is in the basement of the facility.

Date: 12 Sept 2011.

Time: The event starts at 1000, but we will be early to escort the DV’s. They are requesting we be present at 0830. The event will last about 1 hour long.

Uniform: Service Dress.

AFSA 1179 Softball Tournament -6 Aug 2010

Our First Annual Softball Tournament hosted by your local AFSA Chapter 1179.  We’re really looking for support from the different organizations but unfortunately we have zero teams scheduled.  BE THE FIRST!  This day was approved by Col Crossier to be an alternate duty location!  There will be a burger burn during the games as well.

When:  6 August 2010

Time:  Starts at 0800 depending on the number of teams

Where:  Buckley Softball Fields

Cost:  $100 per team ($10/person) min 9 players per team

Sign up date ends: 2 August 2010

Winners:  First and Second Place teams receive trophies

Adopt-a-Street cleanup- AFSA 1179- Saturday, 24 Jul 2010

Need or want some volunteer hours?  We are organizing another Adopt-a-Street cleanup for our local Air Force Sergeants Association chapter!

Date:  24 July 2010 (Saturday)  Time:  0830 – 1100’sh

Location:  Tower Rd. between Mississippi and Iliff.  We will meet in the parking lot of Tower Community Fellowship Church (on the left off Tower if coming from base, at the corner of Tower and Powerline Trail rd.) We will try to get as many supplies as we can, but I recommend that you bring gloves and sun block.  Also, long pants may be warranted as some areas have overgrown grass.  We will have bottles of water.

If you can make it, please send me an e-mail so I can make sure to bring enough water and vests.  In your email, please include your: Name, Rank, Organization. The more people we have, the faster the work will go. Please feel free to bring your dependents as well. We ask that if you bring small dependents to remember that traffic will be around us.
